Blood-Building Tonic

Ingredients:

  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 carrots
  • 3 celery sticks
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 small piece fresh ginger
  • 1 lemon
  • handful of leafy greens (baby spinach, arugula, dandelion leaves)
  • dash of cayenne
  • tablespoon of nutritional yeast (when not fasting)

Directions: Juice through a centrifugal or masticating juicer. You can also blend in a Vitamix or other blender, but make sure to strain it if you are drinking juices or fasting for health benefits.

Tooty Fruity Chardy Green Smoothie

A yummy and simple green smoothie — green chard, like spinach, is the most innocuous of the greens (meaning you can barely taste them!) — I used green chard, 1/2 cantaloupe, fresh strawberries, organic apple, and a handful of mung bean sprouts. Prepare to be asked for seconds!

Mix up tomatoes, tomatillos, jalapeno, jicama, cilantro, lime, red onion, with a dash of dulse and garlic.

Salad Smoothie

Ingredients: 1/2 head of romaine, handful of spinach leaves and/or cilantro, 1/2 lemon, 1 roma tomato, 1 green onion, 1-2 stalks celery, 1/2 cucumber, 1 cup filtered water, ice (optional)

Options: For a spicier version, add ½ jalapeno pepper. Add 1 tbs. nutritional yeast. Celtic salt, caraway seeds, fresh dill.

Melony Mint Medley

Ingredients: 1/2 bunch green chard, handful of spearmint leaves, 1 cup cantaloupe, honeydew OR watermelon chunks, 1/2 cup pineapple, 1/2 cup frozen or fresh peach slices, 1 apple, filtered water, ice (optional)

Directions: Place washed greens and mint first in blender or Vitamix, cut apple, discarding the seeds, add the rest of the ingredients and add about 2 inches of water. If you like it cold, add some ice. Blend until smooth.

Raspberry Razzle Dazzle

Ingredients: 1/2 bunch of swiss chard, 1 apple, 3/4
cup fresh or frozen raspberries, 1 banana, 1/2 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, filtered water, ice (optional)

Directions: Place washed greens first in blender or Vitamix, cut apple, discarding the seeds, add the rest of the ingredients and add about 2 inches of water. If you like it cold, add some ice. Blend until smooth and add sweetener, if needed.
